Yoga Adjustments — What Happens In The Body In this video, I show you how a popular yoga adjustment creates weakness in the body. Try this with a friend to feel the effects in your own body and then tell me what you think in the comments!
I've always hated when that adjustment was done to me!
Are we going to be straddling the fine line between yoga instructor and a yoga therapist as defined by Yoga Alliance?
@Teri Yoga therapy is TM. SO we don't use that terminaology. Also, to get into the realm of physical therapy, we would need a lot more hours to certify. 😁 IN this level, we begin to identify muscle tightness as way to evaluate muscle weakness.
@Teri Yoga Therapy programs require over 4 years of training (over 1000 hours) and are accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT.org) - not Yoga Alliance. IAYT is extremely picky about their accreditation. Last I looked, I believe there were only about 70 schools approved. It's not a trademarked term - and can't be because the words themselves are descriptors. Which causes the confusion.
That said, there's a big difference in education between a yoga teacher and a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) or licensed physical therapist.
